On Thursday the 14th, we woke up early enough to go to Cologne. When we got there the Germans went to the guided tour that was to take place in the Cathedral and the rest were divided into groups. We Portuguese, except for João Silva who was with his host, we stayed with the Irish and we all went to walk the streets. The first one we went to was a souvenir shop where we found quite a few things but were pretty much 3 guys so hardly any of us bought anything, then went to see the other shops but the ones because of the Irish, the shops we entered the most were sport shops. But we also entered a store related to fantasy films and stories from another world, with Harry Potter or The Walkuing Dead.
But when we entered that store we soon realized that almost everything there was very expensive and we ended up not buying anything. When we just saw the shops we went to lunch at Mcdonald's and we all ate together. Then we went to the Chocolate Museum, but on the way there one of the Irish Adam found 5 euros, crossed the river and a small part of the Christmas market. When we finally got to the Chocolate Museum we went to see the chocolate shop and bought some soon. Afterwards we were distributed by the groups and went to our guide. The guide explained where the cocoa seed grew, where this tree existed, why the seeds grow so low, where we can find the cocoa tree, how to make chocolate and what ingredients are needed and how long it took to prepare the seeds. beans, which were inside the seed, to become chocolate. We saw the machines needed to make chocolate and the different steps necessary for the chocolate to be well made. After we tasted chocolate the guide told us about the history of chocolate, which was about the time of the Maya and what time it was for everything and how it evolved from there. When the visit was over, we went straight to the Cathedral, but before that we passed a Christmas market that was right next door. After seeing a lot of the market we went to our colleagues and teachers who were waiting for our guide who was going to take us to the Cathedral. The Cathedral was quite beautiful and large and its history had all these characteristics. The visit did not take long but it was able to learn some things. After this the teachers let us go strolling in the Christmas market and going to eat anything. Me and the people who were with me went to eat a traditional German food, a Bratwurste was quite good. After that we still went to Mcdonald's because some did not want to eat, and after that we went to wait for the bus. Patrícia Mariz
